Over 35 years of combined full time law enforcement, and military experience; to include extensive private sector contracting experience. More relevant than just time in service, has thousands of Law Enforcement operations involving the surveillance, seizure, and capture of armed violent criminals. I have taken extensive training classes as a student with many of the most highly regarded instructors in the United States, and is still active as a student as well as an instructor. Classes focus on the legal, ethical and moral use of lethal force with firearms for the armed private Citizen who may find themselves as first responders to their own personal or family emergency.
Dave Shaw is a CA POST CCW (#241) certified instructor as well as a DOJ/NRA instructor. Dave has been teaching for over 10 years and logged over 2000 hours of formal firearm training. He has completed advanced classes from such training organizations as; Assault Dynamics, Tacfire, Strategos international, Surefire, OpSpec, Tac1, Trident Concepts, and Firearms Training Associates. Dave has also undergone over 300 hours of force on force scenario-based training using UTM, SIRT, and shooting simulators. In addition to his extensive firearms training, Dave is also certified in TCCC (Tactical casualty combat care) and advanced CPR/AED.
To ensure a smooth and successful concealed carry class experience, please bring the following items:
1. All Firearms Listed on Your Application
Make sure you bring every firearm listed in your application.
2. Ammunition
200 rounds for your primary firearm.
50 rounds for any second or third firearms (if different caliber).
3. Ear Protection
Muffs or plugs – protecting your hearing is essential.
4. Eye Protection
Safety glasses to protect your eyes from debris and brass.
5. Kydex Pistol Holster
A sturdy, functional holster suitable for your firearm. No leather holsters, please.
6. Hat
Preferably one with a brim for additional sun protection.
7. Closed Toe Shoes
Comfortable shoes that provide adequate protection and support.
8. Sunscreen
Protect yourself from harmful UV rays, especially during outdoor training.
9. Proper Fitting Clothing
Wear clothing that allows freedom of movement while ensuring safety. Avoid overly loose or baggy clothing.
10. Lunch
Bring your own lunch to stay energized throughout the day.
11. Water
Stay hydrated – bring a water bottle to keep yourself refreshed.
12. Magazines
At least 2 magazines for each firearm you're bringing.
13. Brass-Cased Ammo Only
All ammunition must be brass-cased. Steel-cased and reloaded ammo are not allowed.
15. Gun Belt
A strong, study belt designed for concealed carry (no flimsy or fashion belts).
